The Manor Club, Willow Valley

This project is special because there is so much packed into such a small space. The transformation of an existing basement area into an extraordinary “club” space made it a very exciting project to be a part of.

Because of the level of detail in the design and trying to create the design intent in an existing, tight space, Smucker Company encountered many unusual challenges, especially for such a small project. There was not a lot of clearance for the ceilings and soffits that were installed. This required Smucker Company’s office and field personnel to assist the GC in creating solutions “on the fly”, basically as we were installing the metal framing. We also had to coordinate with the MEP trades to make sure that we were leaving room for all of the rough-ins that they needed to do above the finished ceiling.

As you will see on the pictures for the project, the detail of this project greatly enhances the finished appearance of the space. The detailed, feature areas in the project were all created out of metal studs and drywall. They include the football shaped column in the corridor, the numerous columns lining both sides of the corridor and the numerous soffits that had either a radius, an arch or a curve and in some cases all three of these design elements. Also, in many cases there are angled walls that flow into the detailed soffits. In the billiards room, there are soffits that support all the wood work that was installed throughout the ceiling area.

Smucker Company is proud of the finished product that was produced by our workers. We have been told that it has become one of the favorite spaces for the residents of Willow Valley Manor to hang out. It’s exciting to be a part of a construction project that brings so much enjoyment to people.
